Hello guys! I was wondering what's the maximum age of a player. On what age does he decide to retire, or he'll retire automatically when the contract ends? Oh and also what's the age that the player starts to lose his skills?

the minimum age for a player to retire is 38 years old, however if the player is good and is still playing for a team, or has a good atitude and decides not to give up in the free agency market, they may last as long as about 50 years old.

Thanks for the quick reply. I have just one more question: if an old player has a high potential skill, will his skills increase, or decrease because he's just too old and the potential doesn't matter int this situation?

Coaches: At the beginning of current season, i signed a 68 years old coach, but a few days later he dissapeared and i had to sign another one. I'm wondering if it was some kind of mandatory retirement.

This may be the explaination for the bug of coaches disappearing.

well it says in the goodhockey manual that if the player is over 38 and has low potential that his skills will decrease until he eventually retires. so if a guy has high potential but is getting old, i'd sign him but only for the minumum seasons (2) i'm actually thinking of signing a 36 year old whos 81 ovr and 90 pot...

a player only really starts going downhill at about 38. at 36 his stats will only decrease by about 1 every few days. if you have really good training it's a good inestment to sign a high potential player untill he's 38, since their gains will still outweigh their losses.
